Key Issues

Check out our new video of Julie and what she stands for!

Economic Development and Living Wage

GEORGIA NEEDS JULIE for:
• Attracting new businesses.
• Increasing opportunities for higher wage jobs.
• Raising the minimum wage.

Everyone deserves to earn a living wage. No individual or family should struggle to make ends meet. In Glynn county, our average wages are below the national average.

Preservation of Coastal Georgia

GEORGIA NEEDS JULIE for:
• Keeping the jobs and livelihood provided by our coast secure.
• Preserving the natural beauty of our environment.
• Ensuring the safety of our water.
• Protecting our native wildlife.
• Preventing off-shore drilling.

Coastal Georgia is home to magnificent rivers, barrier islands, and 100 miles of sand beaches. Our coastal community continues to be under threat from pollution, over-development, and proposed off-shore drilling. I am strongly opposed to off-shore drilling.

Quality and Affordable Healthcare

GEORGIA NEEDS JULIE for:
• Reducing the physician shortage.
• Increasing the availability of primary care facilities.
• Expanding Medicaid.
• Supporting rural hospitals.

Everyone has the right to access affordable and quality healthcare. Quality healthcare should not be a financial burden to any family. This is unacceptable, and I will work to expand access to quality and affordable healthcare in Glynn County.

Expand Access to Childcare and PreK Education

GEORGIA NEEDS JULIE for:
• Expanding access to quality Pre-K education.
• Providing transportation to Pre-K programs.

All children and families should have access to quality, affordable childcare and early childhood education. The benefits of early education include lower retention rates and higher graduation rates. Investing in student success is investing in our community.

Public Transportation in Glynn County

GEORGIA NEEDS JULIE for:
• Advocating for public transportation as a part of an economic development plan.
• Proposing legislation to provide supplementary funding for transit system for Glynn County.
• Providing for community input into a public transportation plan.

Residents, workers, and visitors of Brunswick and Glynn County do not have access to public transportation. Public transportation provides much needed access to a number of opportunities such as employment, education, shopping and foods, and tourism.

SENSIBLE GUN LEGISLATION

GEORGIA NEEDS JULIE for:
• Expanding the background checks now required for the purchase of handguns to sales of “assault-style” weapons.
• Raising the minimum age for purchasing those weapons from 18 to 21.
• Allowing the courts to issue orders to take firearms from people who are adjudged a danger to themselves or their community.
• Banning “bump stock” devices that turn semiautomatic weapons into rapid-firing automatic weapons.

I believe in the Second Amendment. I respect responsible gun ownership. However, mass shootings as well as the daily individual victims of gun violence demand that we increase our diligence in ensuring that only responsible, mentally healthy individuals can purchase guns. Guns designed for military use should not be available for public citizens.

Equality

GEORGIA NEEDS JULIE for:
• Building partnerships with public entities that reflect the diversity of our community.
• Dismantling systemic racial discrimination.
• Empowering women and women's rights in our community.
• Ensuring veterans receive the financial, healthcare, and support services they deserve.
• Ensuring our criminal justice systems are fair and just to all, regardless of race or economic status.

I believe in equal rights for all. Gender, race, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, or economic status should not determine the rights or opportunities one deserves. If you have served our country in our armed forces, you deserve a living wage, quality healthcare, access to quality mental health services, and to receive continued support services.
